I want to open my WooCommerce store to other sellers while festive shoppers are still buying, but I’m worried about launching something half-ready.
Is it realistic to start now, and how do I set up vendor commissions and payouts?
It’s realistic if you launch lean, not full-scale. Festive shoppers are actively buying right now, so a small marketplace with a few trusted vendors can start earning commission this season, but opening to everyone without testing is risky because refunds, late deliveries, and payout mistakes spike during peak sales. Start by inviting a handful of vendors you already know, with approved products and clear delivery timelines, and make sure each one can meet the festive delivery cutoff dates you display to customers.
Before going live, settle the money rules, since those are the hardest to change later: your commission rate (a percentage per sale, a flat fee, or a mix), your payout schedule and minimum payout amount, and who handles refunds and disputes. During festive season it also helps to set a shorter payout approval window for returns and to limit vendors’ ability to change prices mid-sale, so customers don’t see unexpected changes. Test a few full orders from vendor listing to commission calculation before you promote it.
A marketplace plugin handles vendor registration, commissions, and dashboards so you don’t build that logic yourself.
